About Our Providers
Dr. Hashemi is a board certified OB/GYN and a Diplomate of the American Board of OB/GYN. She is also the Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
Her medical care covers predominantly patients of both Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Her practice philosophy is to treat every patient with the utmost respect they deserve and to attend to their needs as a friend or a family member. Dr. Hashemi is an upstanding member of the local community in Virginia and has had major roots in local community.
Dr. Hashemi attended Robinson high school in Fairfax Va, then went onto George Mason University, in Fairfax Va where she received her Bachelors of Science (BS) in Biology. She then went to the Medical college of Virginia, where she received a Masters of Science in Physiology and Endocrinology. She then went on to complete her Medical degree from the same university (Medical College of Virginia)
Her post medical school training (residency), in the field of OB/GYN was with some of the world’s most renowned surgeons at Franklin Square hospital, located in Baltimore Maryland. There, she received numerous awards including scientific research awards, and voted the best teaching resident-physician, in her field.
Dr. Hashemi is both, member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologist, and a Diplomate of American board of OB/GYN.
Dr. Hashemi is an active member of the PTA and volunteers with the underprivileged communities.
Dr. Hashemi is married with two children and is fluent in English, Farsi, and basic Spanish.
Dr. Hashemi is available for office hours, 4 days per week, including late hours on Wednesday ( for the working parents ).
Dr. Samar Benhusen Merriman joined our practice after relocating from Baltimore, MD.
A native of Washington, DC she received her medical degree from St. George's University. Dr. Merriman completed her residency training in Ob/Gyn at Medstar Franklin Square Center in Baltimore, MD. While in residency, she trained extensively in all aspects of obstetric and gynecology.
She earned multiple awards in residency, The Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine Resident Award for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Excellence in Teaching for University of Maryland Students, Wm. Scott Taylor MD Award for Professionalism, Resident of the Year Award for Excellence in Surgical Skills and Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
She enjoys treating patients of all ages and has a special interest in high risk obstetric patients. During her free time, Dr. Merriman enjoys rooting for the Washington Redskins and spending time with her husband and two young sons.
Dr. Merriman is fluent in English and Arabic.
Dr. Aliya Ladha attended the University of Waterloo in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, where she obtained an Honours Bachelor degree in Kinesiology with a Pre-Health Specialization. She subsequently attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Science specializing in Exercise Oncology. She then received her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean and completed her internship and residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Providence-Providence Park Hospital associated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in Michigan. Dr. Ladha successfully completed her Board Certification, and is currently a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Ladha is committed to the health and wellness of women all throughout the continuum of their lives from adolescence to pregnancy to the postmenopausal period. Each spectrum of a woman’s health is unique and being an integral part of this journey is very rewarding.
Dr. Ladha is the recipient of multiple research and scientific awards. During her senior year of residency, Dr. Ladha won the Bernard Mendelbaum Award for demonstrated commitment to sustained personal involvement in Obstetrics & Gynecology teaching. She was also the first resident to complete a one-month international elective rotation in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa where she saw first hand medical challenges in the developing world.
Dr. Ladha has recently moved to Northern Virginia with her husband and is looking forward to engaging in the local community. During her free time, Dr. Ladha enjoys being outdoors biking along the Potomac River and has recently taken up golfing. As she is Canadian, Dr. Ladha enjoys watching hockey and basketball, especially when the Toronto teams come to town. She also speaks French, Swahili and Gujarati.

Prior to becoming a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Traci Marin worked for 15 years as an RN. She specialized in cardiac, emergency, ICU and obstetrical nursing. This experience, and her leadership capabilities, led her to role as a Nursing Supervisor of Fair Oaks Hospital. Traci graduated with top honors from Frontier Nursing University and joined Centreville OB/GYN in 2011. She also serves as a preceptor to Nurse Practitioner and CNM students.
Traci's goal is for her patients to feel welcome, valued and respected. You will walk away feeling like part of our family. She prefers for you to be forthright about your health care priorities so she can focus on what is most important to you. Bring a list of your questions, so they can each be addressed and none forgotten.
Nurse-Midwives provide care beyond normal pregnancy. They are also Nurse Practitioners who specialize in gynecology and can treat common primary care issues experienced by women across the lifespan. This includes urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted infections, skin infections, depression, acne, headaches, painful periods, irregular periods, peri-menopausal discomforts and much more. They are licensed to write prescriptions, as well as order lab work and radiology tests. Traci is available for in-depth consultations on birth control, an can insert IUDs and Nexplanon for long term, highly effective contraception.
If you are pregnant, Traci is amazing in supporting you throughout each stage of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She can attend your birth at Fair Oaks Hospital - whether you desire an unmedicated birth or an epidural. YES, you can have an epidural with a midwife! Her goal is for you to feel safe, calm, confident and un-rushed as you welcome your newborn baby. Traci will also assist you with initial breastfeeding. She is readily available by phone in the postpartum weeks as well.
Chloe Rios provides her expertise as a nurse midwife and lactation counselor at Centerville OB/GYN.
She graduated from Western Oklahoma State College with honors and continued her education by earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northwestern State University. Chloe also obtained her Certified Lactation Counselor® (CLC®) certification because she felt passionate about assisting mothers who need support in successful breastfeeding.
Chloe went on to graduate from Frontier Nursing University with top honors and received her master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in midwifery. She then passed her national certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Chloe has four beautiful children with her husband of 10 years, who is in active duty military in the United States Army. She has birthed two of her children in the hospital setting and two of her children at home.
As a certified nurse-midwife, Chloe provides care to women during their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journey. She is an experienced provider of gynecology and common primary care conditions. She is also licensed to write prescriptions, order lab work, and radiology tests as needed.
Katie Tyson offers her expertise as a nurse midwife at Reston Women's Center in Reston, Virginia. She worked her way through nursing school and through her nursing career, beginning her journey as a nurse with her AAS in Nursing from NVCC before obtaining a BSN from George Mason University, graduating with highest honors, and finally completing her MSN as a Certified Nurse Midwife through Frontier Nursing University, also graduating with highest honors. She practiced as a registered nurse for 9 years before becoming a midwife with experience in medical-surgical nursing, high-risk pregnancy, and labor and delivery. She completed her midwifery preceptorship as a student nurse under Traci Marin, CNM prior to joining our practice.
Katie supports women through all stages of their life, from adolescence through menopause and through pregnancy, labor/birth, and the postpartum period. She believes in serving women with open, honest communication, nonjudgmental attitude, trust, consent and a little laughter. Katie is trained in NEXPLANON® insertion as well as all forms of IUDs. She has a special interest in contraception and for those not planning a pregnancy will be happy to discuss the various options available to you and work with you to find the right fit. In pregnancy and birth, Katie believes that being "with-woman" includes being present and attentive to women choosing to labor unmedicated as much as those choosing epidurals. She attends births at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. She has a certification in advanced electronic fetal monitoring (C-EFM) and encourages a high-touch, low-tech approach to labor and birth.

Monica was born and raised in Michigan and earned her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Detroit-Mercy. Already bit with the travel bug, she soon became a travel nurse and practiced in several states before landing in Chicago, IL to pursue her true interest in women's health. After graduating with honors from the University of Chicago-Illinois with a masters degree in 2003, she and her husband relocated to northern Virginia where she has been practicing since. After over ten years of serving women and families as a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Monica has never second-guessed her career choice and thoroughly enjoys caring for all women.
With three young children of her own, she understands the demands of a busy lifestyle yet also appreciates the complexity of each woman's individual health needs. Monica enjoys forming relationships with her clients through open communication and respect. Her goal is for you to leave your appointment with your priorities addressed and fully understanding your plan of care. Monica joined the Centreville OB/GYN family in 2015 and is now accepting obstetrical and gynecological appointments.
Outside of work Monica enjoys cooking (and eating), being active and outdoors, and just having fun with her family
As a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner, Melanie Wright provides expert care and support to OB/GYN patients at Centerville OB/GYN.
She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky, graduating with the highest honors. As a registered nurse, Melanie worked in almost every specialty, including medical, surgical, oncology, and critical care. However, her passion was always in women’s health, where she spent over 20 years caring for women and their families in labor and delivery, postpartum, and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Melanie empowers women by educating them about their health. She has studied various forms of complementary medicine and believes in a holistic approach to wellness. She is certified in Reiki and therapeutic touch and has studied Wise Women Herbalism.
Melanie believes in fostering the next generation of nurses and dedicates her time to teaching nursing at Northern Virginia Community College and Shenandoah University. She also precepts nurse practitioner students.
In her spare time, Melanie enjoys reading, gardening, yoga, hiking, home renovations, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Casey’s path to midwifery started early, attending the prenatal visits and home births of her five younger siblings. She went on to graduate with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Missouri State University in 2010. She practiced medical-surgical nursing for a year and then moved onto labor and delivery where she cared for both low and high risk women. She also occasionally assisted at home births with a private practice. In 2017, Casey graduated with honors from Frontier Nursing University with her Master’s of Science in Nursing and is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. She then served women and their families as a midwife at a freestanding birth center.
Casey believes the best birth experience is where your voice is heard. Casey brings a strong foundation to helping you achieve unmedicated childbirth if you desire and equally loves supporting women planning epidurals or cesarean birth. Casey also enjoys being “with woman” as a midwife by providing evidence based care throughout the lifespan for well-woman and problem visits. You are an expert on your own body and experiences, so Casey desires that you leave your visit confident in your individualized plan!
In her spare time, Casey enjoys experimenting with new recipes, lifting weights, and enjoying time outdoors.
In regards to awards, Dr. Neda Hashemi has been selected as a "Top Doctor" by her peers in Washingtonian's 2018 Top Doctors peer-nomination campaign.
